Faculty & Staff

Our faculty and staff, who embody the principles of Christ-centered learning, are the heartbeat of Reformation Classical Academy. They are eager to sow seeds of grace and truth in young hearts and to instill a love of learning. Their love for Christ, our students, and their subjects is evident in the classroom, the hallways, the playground, and wherever they lead our children. Modeling Christian character and values, the faculty are gifted in teaching and in working alongside parents to coach and nurture our students.

Mr. Paul Brinkerhoff

Headmaster

Mr. Paul Brinkerhoff is serving as the RCA Headmaster.  He has a B.A. in History from Wheaton College and an M.A.R. in Theological Studies from Westminster Theological Seminary.

​

Paul has been working in Christian schools for 39 years, including 22 years at Mars Hill Academy, a classical and Christian school in Mason, Ohio.  He has taught numerous classes from 5th through 12th grade, and at various times has served as an athletic director, dean of students, jr. high principal, and academic dean.

​

Paul and his wife Bette have four adult children and two younger ones, and have been blessed to see the wonderful fruit a classical Christian education can provide.  They are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, and love the worship and work of the body of Christ.

Mrs. Rosann Richter

Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Rosann Richter serves the school as office administrator and assistant to the headmaster. She has a B.A. in Marketing & Management from Cedarville University.

 

She spent many years homeschooling their three sons and served for seven years as a director of a classical education tutoring business.  She has also served in marketing and public relations at Dominion Academy of Dayton and as an administrative assistant for Patterson Park Church for seven years.

 

Rosann and her husband Scott are members of Arbor Church in East Dayton.  She enjoys using her organizational skills to help serve at home and in the areas of ministry and education.

Pastor Tyler Detrick

Bible

Pastor Tyler Detrick teaches the upper grades Bible class.  Born and raised in nearby Springfield, he earned a B.A. in English from Cedarville University, where he also minored in New Testament Greek and Bible.  He subsequently completed the M.Div program at Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia).

​

While serving in a church planting internship in downtown Dayton, Tyler developed a deep desire to see God’s Kingdom advance powerfully here; soon thereafter he was called to be pastor at Light of the Nations OPC, the host church of RCA.

​

Pastor Tyler lives just across the street in the Huffman Historic neighborhood with his wife Natalie and their two sons, as they together seek to see the gospel make a difference in Dayton.

Mrs. Kirstin English

Science & Math

Mrs. Kirstin English teaches Science and Math in the 4th-7th grades at RCA.  Kirstin graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, with a specialization in middle school science.  After the birth of their first child, she became a homemaker and homeschooling mother, developing a classical curriculum based on Susan Wise Bauer’s The Well-Trained Mind and teaching core subjects and electives in grades K-12. In 2023, Kirstin graduated the last of their three children from their family's homeschool, Sola Gratia Homeschool.

Mrs. English and her husband Steve have been married for 28 years and are active members of Two Rivers Community Church.

Mr. Brayden Peppo

Humanities, Music, 5th/ 6th Grade

Mr. Brayden Peppo graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Music with Concentration in Piano, in which he performed extensively both as an accompanist and soloist.  In addition, he earned a B.A. in History and a Minor in Classical Christian Education.  He served as a Music Dept. tutor and Teaching Assistant, helped lead the college’s championship debate team in numerous tournaments, and brings experience as a speech teacher/coach.  

​

At RCA Mr. Peppo teaches upper school Humanities and Music as well as several 5th/6th grade classes; he will also lead the school’s first debate program.

 

Brayden and his wife Evalyn live in Dayton and are members of Light of the Nations Church.

Mrs. Cinnamon Peppo

2nd & 4th Grade

Mrs. Cinnamon Peppo teaches the 2nd and 4th grades and the Art elective at RCA.  Cinnamon received her music education degree at the Master’s College in sunny Southern California before returning to the Dayton area to raise a family.  She taught music at Mars Hill Academy, then transitioned to homeschooling her two children.  She has actively overseen all twelve years of their home education, and has continued to teach children of all ages through Sunday school opportunities as well as homeschool co-ops such as Classical Conversations.  She enjoys teaching and imparting a love of learning to her students.

​

Cinnamon and her husband Brad are both natives of Dayton and have been married for 29 years.  She actively supports him in his church-planting work, and is especially involved in the ministry of Light of the Nations Church, where she is a member.  Besides contributing her musical gifts in the life of the church, she plays professionally on the side as well.

Mrs. Evalyn Peppo

Language Arts & Music

Mrs. Evalyn Peppo earned a B.A. in English from Grove City College, along with Minors in Classical Christian Education and in Music.  She served as Editor in Chief of Cogitare Magazine (a college publication focused on faith, culture, and politics), worked as a Teacher Assistant and Resident Assistant, and played in the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. 

​

At RCA Mrs. Peppo teaches Language Arts, Rhetoric, and 5th/6th Music; this spring she will also be launching the school’s strings program.

​

Evalyn and her husband Brayden reside in the city of Dayton, and are members of Light of the Nations Church.

Mrs. Eloise Sutter

Math

Mrs. Eloise Sutter graduated from Grove City College with a B.S. in
Biology/Health, following 12 years of classical Christian education at Mars Hill Academy. At Grove City she served as a Writing Tutor, worked as a Teacher Assistant and Resident Assistant, led a Young Life group, and played four years of varsity volleyball. She also was a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow in a Cincinnati Children’s Hospital internship program (Allergy and Immunology Division). 

 

Eloise teaches Pre-Algebra and 2nd grade math.  She and her husband Estan live in Riverside and attend Light of the Nations Church.

Miss Evie Sutter

Logic & Spanish

Miss Evie Sutter received her B.A. in History from Grove City College, with additional coursework in higher math and classical Christian education.  She served in several tutoring and teaching roles, worked as a Teacher Assistant and Resident Assistant, and was a summer Research Assistant at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and then at the OSU Medical School.  She has had extensive experience with parliamentary debate, including as a key member of the Grove City championship debate team.  

​

Evie teaches Introductory Logic, Spanish, and 6th grade math at RCA.  She resides in Springfield, where she is also a member of Living Water Church (OPC).

Mr. Ryan Wade

Math & Science

Mr. Ryan Wade teaches 8th-11th grade math and science at RCA. He grew up in New York state, where he was homeschooled with a classical education.  Here he developed a love for the way God and science are integrated, especially in biology.

 

Ryan graduated from Cedarville University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a minor in Neuropsychology.  He still lives in Cedarville, where he serves the community by volunteering for the Cedarville Township Fire Department.  Ryan also works as an EMT for Kettering Health Network and is active in the church life of Living Water OPC in Springfield.
